PTE Writing Essay: Climate As The Field Of Study

Write about the following topic:

You are given climate as the field of study. Which area will you prefer? Explain why you picked up the particular area for your study?

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. You should write 200-300 words.

The Climate in itself is quite a diverse field. Climatology, Meteorology, Solar physics, Oceanography, Global change biology are some of its areas. All of these and much more contribute greatly to our understanding of climate. I would prefer palaeoenvironmental reconstruction as my field of study. Further, in this essay, I will explain why I chose this particular area for the study.

The best way to predict future is by knowing our past. As everyone knows that deeper past can be revealed by analyzing remains of microscopic organisms and their sedimentary context so I chose palaeoenvironmental reconstruction for my study. The degree of harm to environment done by humankind is a global issue and by studying this particular area, I gain the temporal perspective necessary for understanding many contemporary environmental issues such as climate change, biological responses to environmental change and land degradation.

It gives us a deeper understanding of how was the climate including vegetation, temperature, and relative humidity was at a particular time and place in the past. By reconstructing past environments we get to know changes in environmental conditions over a course of time. By studying long-term patterns we get answers to many important questions. I explore this area to deal with broader issues – especially with respect to drastic climate change, the impacts of climate change, and how this might inform future challenges.

To conclude, palaeoenvironmental reconstruction is a vast area of study. We can further use its data in various fields of climate study. In all, it greatly helps us in preparing for the changes to come.

  1. In recent decades, there has been a colossal upsurge in the amount of environmental degradation, with climate change being a pivotal one. There are a wide array of aspects that climate change entails. However, I would like to base my research on greenhouse effects, a key contributor to the deterioration of the ecosystem.
There are many reasons why I would like to study numerous aspects of a greenhouse, arguably the most prominent factor responsible for climate change in past recent decades. The rise of carbon monoxide level in the air surrounding us, which is byproduct gas, continuously being emitted from-Vehicles, air-conditioners, industries, etc, is one of the reasons. The chlorofluorocarbon emitted from AC and refrigerators have very detrimental effects on the earth atmosphere, it creates holes in the ozone layer and imbalance the equilibrium of the earth atmosphere. Results in entrapping of UV rays, cause a rise in temperature of the planet, which leads to melting of glaciers, an increase in sea levels, flooding of rivers and many others indirectly affects flora and fauna of earth.
To curb this problem, use of clean energy, alternative sources of transport which do not cause pollution, bring awareness among masses to use public transportation can also play a significant role. Only when convergent efforts from all sectors are ensured, can we expect to see considerable progress in dealing with the problem.
In view of the argument outlined above, one can conclude that the role of a research project regarding climate change in dealing with this issue is instrumental indeed.
