The famous quote “Medicine heals the body, Music heals the soul” perfectly describes the importance of music in our everyday life. Music is a great therapy that helps overcome emotional, social, intellectual and physical handicaps. It connects people in ways that no other medium can. Moreover, it drives our emotions and thoughts to the higher level. Music is any form benefits us in amazing ways.
The world is full of diverse music and cultures from different communities. Though there is no specific type of music, still some of the popular music types include Jazz, Hip Hop, Rock, Blues, Country, R&B, Folk, and Fusion. Traditional music like folk songs and country dance has the history of many generations. The modern debate over the importance of traditional music of a country than the International music is ongoing. I believe that traditional music has its deep roots in the culture and history of a community and to remain connected to its roots, one needs to be aware of the traditional music.
The young generation is losing their interest in traditional songs and music probably because of lack of high beats and bass. They are more connected with international music and their day remains incomplete without listening to one or two international tracks. There get together or party remains dull and boring without hip hop beats and rap songs. The traditional music eventually become diluted by pop culture. The loss of cultural identity is the reason why many people feel traditional music should be encouraged more and bring to the forefront.
In all, music should be healing and inspiring, whether its traditional or international music. People and government should promote traditional music because losing traditional music could mean losing foundation of our culture.
