“In a war of ideas, it is people who get killed”. Does a common man suffer from a group’s ideology? Express your opinion, and support the same with reasons and examples.
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task and write 200-300 words.
Since ages, humankind is at war with each other owing to opposing ideals, ideologies and beliefs. A famous quote “In a war of ideas, it is people who get killed” comes true when a common man and his family suffers because of ideological conflict. I personally support this statement. This article focuses on the effect of group’s ideology on the common man.
The “War of Ideas” is a clash of opposing ideas, ideologies, or concepts through which groups use strategic influence to promote their interests abroad. In this war of ideas, it is the common man and his family who suffers the most. They have to live in constant fear of losing their family, livelihood, money, resources and most importantly, loss of life.
Political war is a perfect example to support my view. The ruling government uses a variety of techniques to weaken or destroy an opponent’s political, social, or societal will. In many cases, political war is combined with violence which causes a major loss to common people or with unfair decisions by government.
The collapse of Hosni Mubarak’s government in Egypt provides pertinent examples, as neither likely would have happened absent the popular revolt. The anti-government protest is followed by series of attacks on Christians and churches which killed many people and many were forcibly evicted from their homes making them live in constant fear. This would not have happened if the difference in political and religious streams of thought did not exist in the Arab world’s most populous country.
To conclude, it is right to say that people get killed where the conflict in ideas exist. Everyone’s welfare should be considered before holding on any idea.
