In developing countries, children in rural communities have less access to education. Some people believe that the problem can be solved by providing more schools and teachers, while others think that the problem can be solved by providing computers and Internet access. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

It is true that children of rural areas have fewer opportunities to obtain good education than children living in cities in developing countries. Where many find providing computers and internet access as a possible solution, I am of the view that providing more schools and teachers would be a more practical solution.

With poor quality education and school teachers not being qualified, it would be a waste of money to provide computers and internet access to children in rural communities. Without dedicated learning environment, and regulated schools, leaving children alone with computers could prove dangerous for their future. It should be only after proper formal education and training, computers and internet access to be provided.

Haiti is one such example where the rate of enrollment in primary education was 47% in 1993. Because most of the educational institutes were private, barring access to education to poor children. At times, poor families end up spending up to 60% of their household income on the schooling of their children. By improving their classroom learning support, improvement in the infrastructure of schools, and by employing qualified teachers, Haiti has steadily boosted the rate of enrollment in primary education to 88% in 2011.

Because modern jobs and industries require mastering computer so learning to use the computer is also of utmost importance to children of rural communities. It provides equal opportunity to compete against children living in cities. A wide range of options and knowledge can be accessed through E-learning.

To conclude, the importance of computers and internet can not be denied for the overall growth of children of rural areas but good quality education system and qualified teachers play a much significant role in education development.
